Tivoli

Hi guys, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I've been feeling festive since our trip to Copenhagen in late November and in particular, since our trip to Tivoli Gardens.

My cousin is doing a Masters in Denmark so came to meet us for the day at the world's second-oldest amusement park. Whilst it is most often called an amusement park, there's so much more to see and do with gardens and a lake to walk around and plenty to eat and drink. At this time of year, it also hosts the Copenhagen Christmas Markets and there's gløgg (the Danish version of mulled wine) galore.

If I don't speak to you before NYE then I'd like to wish you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR and thank you for following me throughout 2017. Next year will see many changes to the blog and I hope to have you along for the journey!

Vesterbro

Wow, it's been about four weeks since I last blogged but it feels like little more than two days; this last month has absolutely whizzed by.

As you may have seen on Instagram, Nick and I went to Copenhagen for five days therefore I have a few posts all about the trip. I've chosen to start with Vesterbro - the uber-trendy district in which we stayed. Famed for its ongoing "gentrification" process, it is often likened to London's Shoreditch and is home to the Meatpacking District and even a mini Paris (my favourite part, of course!)

We stayed in one of the Guldsmeden hotels and it was truly delightful. The franchise is devoted to sustainability with organic products throughout (which is true of Copenhagen in general to be honest). And the design of the hotel is not compromised as a result; the decor is every bit as Scandinavian as you would want (this was a major requirement of mine when searching for places to stay.)

Vesterbro is full of independent, swanky bars and restaurants to be seen at. On our first night, we ate in the Meatpacking District at what is effectively a wine bar with food called Paté Paté. That's not to say the menu isn't extensive however; I had some of the best food of my life in there including this gorgeous, white chocolate cheesecake:

Another stylish restaurant known for the popularity of its food and drinks in equal measure is Madklubben. They put tasty twists on cocktails and Nick claims to have had "one of the best steaks of his life" there.

On our final night, we chose a concept restaurant called Kiin Kiin Bao Bao that we'd been eyeing up all week. It serves Asian tapas via an order form where you simply tick what you'd like and hand it in - cool, huh?
